In 2006, the Village acquired 58 acres of land on Van Dyke Road for the purpose of constructing a transit center. A Pace Park-n-Ride will open on the site next year. With the transit center underway, the Village is exploring economic development opportunities for rest of the property.

The Village's key goals and objectives for the site, known as the Depot Drive development, are:
  • Add value to this parcel
  • Encourage economic development
  • Explore market options and interest
  • Facilitate the construction of a new Plainfield Emergency   Management Agency facility
What is a Public-Private Partnership?

The Village has embarked upon a Request for Qualifications process as a means of determining the feasibility and market interest in developing the site with a combination of private industrial/office development, possible neighborhood retail, and a publicly owned or operated PEMA facility through the mechanism of a public-private partnership.
