Plan Commission
The Plan Commission is an advisory body to the Village Board. The following types of cases are brought before the Plan
Commission: annexation, zoning, variance, site plan, special use, preliminary plat, and final plat. The Plan Commission meets on the first and third
Tuesdays of each month at Village Hall.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is an advisory body to the Village Board for matters pertaining to historic
preservation. The types of cases that are brought before the HPC are the following: landmark designation, district designation, certificate of appropriateness, certificate of economic
hardship, requests affecting landmarks and/or districts and rehabilitation grant program. The HPC meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Village Hall.

The mission of the HPC is to:
Identify and preserve the distinctive historic architectural areas, buildings, structures, landscapes, and archaeological sites which represent elements of
the village's cultural, social, economic, political, and / or architectural history; and
Foster civic pride in the beauty and noble accomplishments of the past as embodied in the Village's architecture and historic sites; and
Protect and increase the value of property within the historic districts of the Village and those sites designated as landmarks; and
Encourage preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of the Village's historic buildings and structures and of its historic residential and commercial neighborhoods; and
Ensure that the economic benefits resulting from preservation (e.g. tax incentives, new jobs, renewed buildings) are available to the citizens of Plainfield.
